Rainboa

The Rainboa is a custom-designed furry boa (created by GlowBros) .

The latest LED technology is used to create vibrant, colourful and dynamic patterns along the entire length of the Rainboa.

The Rainboa will ensure that you really stand out in a crowd - making you exceptionally cool; people will love to chat and dance with you, making you almost as popular as a Glowman! It also doubles as a handy scarf to keep you super warm and snuggly wherever you happen to be!

Controls

There are two buttons on the Boa controller, the heavy end of the Boa, one smooth and one bumpy.

The smooth button turns the Boa on with a short press, a long press (>6s) will turn the boa off. Once the Boa is on a short press of this button will step forwards through the patterns.

A short press of the bumpy button will step backwards through the patterns.

A long press of the bumpy button will allow you to change either the colour, speed or brightness of the current pattern. This is achieved by:

Colour change

Hold the controller with the bumpy button at the top.
Press and hold the bumpy button.
Tilting the controller in the direction of the button will change the colour.
When the desired colour is reached let go of the button to set the colour, this colour will be remembered next time you select this pattern.

Speed change

Hold the controller with the bumpy button at the bottom.
Press and hold the bumpy button.
Tilting the controller in the direction of the button will change the speed.
When the desired colour is reached let go of the button to set the speed, this speed will be remembered next time you select this pattern. (some patterns may react weirdly with extreme speed values... just have a play)

Brightness

Hold the controller level.
Press and hold the bumpy button.
Twisting the controller in either direction will set the brightness
When the desired brightness is reached let go of the button to set the brightness.
0% brightness is with the bumpy button facing up, 100% is with the bumpy button facing horizontally.

Bluetooth connectivity

Additionally, the Rainboa can be controlled from an Android phone* via Bluetooth 4.0, allowing much more control over the various effects which can be produced by the Rainboa.

Controlling via the App also enables you to save the settings to the Rainboa's memory. This includes:

Personalising your Rainboa by giving it a name
Setting the default pattern
The speed of the patterns
The colour of the patterns

Power

Using quality 18650 Li-Ion batteries the Rainboa will last at least 4 hours on the most demanding pattern at full brightness. Under normal usage the Rainboa will last all night before needing to be recharged.

We recommend Panasonic NCR18650 or equivalents, do not use cheap high capacity batteries from Ebay, they won't last anywhere near as long. Please ensure you insert the battery with the positive terminal at the wire (LED Strip) end of the controller.

The battery can be charged in the controller by inserting a standard micro USB cable into the side. Please ensure the battery is not charged whilst inside the furry skin!

When the battery falls to about 30% of its capacity the power saving functions of the Boa automatically set the brightness to conserve power. You will find patterns that don't use much power will remain brighter for longer.
